As a 15 year old was beat by that guys older brother in a freakin Dairy Queen at age 15 for being a smartass at 3 pm in front of everyone. Then he had me hauled off. Sometimes they DO go too far

I think they didn't even report Tommy's death because that would have launched an immediate investigation and the state police would deduce fairly quickly that it was an execution and not an escape attempt. Plus, I think in the ledger there was proof that warden 'paid' Hadley to execute Tommy, as further corroborating evidence against him. Brutality was one thing, but even for Hadley acting as a contract killer seemed out of character at first glance. Glad they both got their comeuppance though.
